Recent trends include new groups of professionals who did not require second language acquisition ten or even five years ago: psychologists, building contractors, film-makers, bankers, landscapers, law officers, and mountain climbers to name a few. The personalized language approach at ENCUENTROS Spanish Language Course as well as the opportunities for Spanish language practice that are organized outside the classroom provide an answer to the new language needs that characterize this influx of professional students.

Students who study Spanish for work-related reasons have specific language requirements that involve the need to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients, customers, students, and patients. Special "Survival Spanish" classes and "Charlas" provide them with functional language and cultural information to enhance their effectiveness with Spanish speakers in the workplace. Visits with Mexican counterparts provide the opportunity to share ideas and converse. The morning program can be complemented with volunteer internships in the Cuernavaca community during the afternoon, in which the student uses Spanish in a real-life setting.
